The objective content and subjective understanding of the past era of mass political repression will be incomplete without considering the fate of individual people.
The author shows in the article on the source base that, in general, the composition of the repressed in Southern Kazakhstan corresponded to the general polyethnic composition of the population of the region that actually developed by the mid-20-30s of the last century. Among the total number of repressed, slightly less than 3/5 are Kazakhs, representatives of the main, most numerous ethnic group of the republic. More than 1/5 of the repressed are Russians, and the remaining 1/5 falls on the share of the remaining 20 ethnic groups, among which more than 70 people were citizens of Uzbek nationality.
