Abstract

The article presents facts confirmed by archival documents testifying to the plight of Polish immigrants forcibly deported to Kazakhstan by the will of the Soviet leadership. The State Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan store a huge amount of evidence of the violent transformation of the existence of special settlers who found themselves on the territory of the republic during the years of collectivization and World War II. The Polish contingent that arrived in Kazakhstan, for the most part, adapted very hard to the new realities, keeping the hope of returning to their homeland. Unfortunately, many people have not been able to do this. However, according to the memoirs of Poles who survived this tragedy, many owe their lives and salvation to the local population, who, despite their own difficulties, supported Polish special settlers to the best of their abilities.
