Author Guidelines

The editors of the Etnosayasat information and analytical journal accept previously unpublished articles using the Open Journal System.

The publication has the following areas:

  • І. Ethnic groups and history / Этностар және тарих / Этносы и история
  • II. Ethnopolitical trends / Этносаяси трендтер / Этнополитические тренды
  • III. Theory and practice / Теория және тәжірибе / Теория и практика

Publication frequency: 2 times a year.

Publishing is free of charge.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MATERIALS

 

  • The material should not be previously published or submitted for consideration and publication in other journals.
  • Articles are accepted in electronic format. The length of the article (excluding the title, information about the authors, annotations, keywords, bibliographic list) should be at least 3,000 words and not exceed 7,000 words.
  • Abstract and keywords are provided in three languages (Kazakh, Russian, English).
  • All pages of the article, as well as tables, lists of references, figures and captions under the figures must be numbered.
  • At the end of the article, please check the spaces after all characters in the article, especially in the list of references (after dots, commas, dashes, colons, slashes and brackets).
  • Figures, tables, graphs, diagrams, etc. are presented directly in the text with numbering and titles (For example, Fig. 1 - Figure title). The number of figures, tables, graphs and diagrams should not exceed 20% of the total volume of the article (in some cases up to 30%). In the electronic version, figures and illustrations are submitted in TIF or JPG format with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

  • Main text - 12 pt
  • Abstract, keywords, literature - 10 pt
  • List of sources - 9-11 pt
  • Table text - 9 pt
  • Font – Times New Roman
  • Alignment - according to the width of the text
  • Interval - Single
  • Paragraph indent - 0.8 cm
  • Margins: top and bottom - 2 cm, left and right - 2 cm

 

STRUCTURE

 

  • The manuscript of the article must contain the UDC index and the code IRSTI (Interstate rubricator of scientific and technical information), which are placed on the left above the title of the article.
  • JEL codes. 3–4 JEL codes are provided. A complete list of JEL codes is available at: https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php 
  • The title of the article should reflect the essence and content of the article and attract the attention of the reader. The title should be short, informative and free of jargon and/or abbreviations. The optimal title length is 5-7 words (in some cases up to 10-12 words). The title of the article should be presented in Russian, Kazakh and English. The title of the article is presented in bold, uppercase letters, alignment is centered.
  • The author(s) of the article - Initials and surname, place of work (affiliation), city, country, email - in Russian, Kazakh and English. Information about the authors is presented in regular font, lowercase letters, alignment is centered.
  • Abstract of at least 150 words each in Russian, Kazakh and English. The abstract allows to expand the description of the subject, which is given in the title.
  • Key words or phrases - 5-7 in Russian, Kazakh and English.

 

LITERATURE (BIBLIOGRAPHY)

  • The list of used literature, or the Bibliographic list, consists of at least 30 titles of literature, and 50% of them are in English. If there are works presented in Cyrillic in the list of references, it is necessary to submit a list of references in two versions: the first - in the original, the second - in the romanized alphabet (transliteration).
  • The list of references is given in alphabetical order, with consecutive numbering.
  • References in the text to the corresponding source from the list of references are in square brackets, for example: [1, p. 277]. The use of automatic page links is not allowed.
  • The list of literature is drawn up in accordance with the requirements of GOST 7.5-98 “Journals, collections, information publications. Publishing design of published materials” and GOST 7.1-2003 “Bibliographic record. Bibliographic description. General requirements and rules for drafting”.
  • In the case of an electronic source of information, a reference and date of access are required.
  • A romanized list of references should look like this: author(s) (transliteration) http://www.translit.ru → (year in parentheses) → title of the article in transliterated version [translation of the title of the article into English in square brackets], title of the Russian-language source (transliteration, or English title - if any), output data with notations in English.
  • For example: Gokhberg L., Kuznetsova T. (2011) Strategy-2020: novye kontury rossiiskoi innovatsionnoi politiki [Strategy 2020: New Outlines of Innovation Policy]. Foresight Russia, vol. 5, no 4, pp. 8-30.
  • The design style of the Romanized bibliography, as well as sources in English (another foreign language) for socio-humanitarian areas - American Psychological Association (http://www.apastyle.org/), for natural science and technical areas - Chicago Style (www.chicagomanualofstyle.org).

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
